honda ch150

Well a buddy of mine gave me a 1986 honda ch150 delux. Motor runs great. The problem he was having is it keeps breaking the shaft the clutch slides on. Broken 2 sofar. He lost confidence in it and gave it to me. I orederd another motor off ebay. Removed all the plastic sanded and primered them. Im going to end up with about $350 in the scoot. Not to bad I think. Wondering if anyone knows a reason the shaft on the original motor keeps breaking.thanks
