The grief is more an annoyance than anything else. To be told I had no credibility about scooters because I said the QJ LTR-150 scooter is probably a reliable piece is galling. I have over 30,000 miles on four Chinese craft with only 1 stranding and that was the CF Moto no less. How many China miles do they have? Like none?

Yet you read day after day, fuel pump failures, electrical gremlins, bad connections and assorted ills. Look at your Piaggio. It's their forum so I have to tread lightly and they know it. If I went off on their electrical fires, corrosion and bad shocks I would get banned.

Even with quiet mention they acknowledge that a Yamaha SMax 155 is a suitable replacement for a GTS 300 at less than half the price. Your Buddy does as much as your Liberty did with fewer headaches and probably a longer life.

It's their playground. They can have all the fun they want with it.

Oh, I know what you speak of. The problem with Piaggio scooters, especially the EFI/computer controlled one, is you need a very good dealer for support. You can't trouble shoot it yourself because of the specialty PADS diagnostic tool. I didn't have no local support, and I no longer liked my Piaggio scooter enough to lug it 100 miles one way for support. Hence why I went with a simple Genuine Buddy 125 now. Most Chinese scooters are still old school carb controlled, and as long as you stay on top of it you'll be fine most of the time.

I think I gave you grief before as well, and I'm sorry if I did in the past. I hated my Qlink Commuter so bad. Just so many problems that I donated it to a thrift store at 5000 miles. I might have just got a dud but it made me leery of Chinese scooters ever since. But if Keeway can get their act together I might be tempted to get the cool Sixties 300!

Now onto the huge Honda Goldwing clone link you posted. My co-worked and I keep looking at the Honda Bagster with love and lust in our eyes! My parking spot is to narrow to put it in the garage at night so I think I'm safe from a naked Goldwing purchase! Plus, my wife still want to test ride a Can-Am Ryker.

Here's what the problem was with CF Moto in the 2006-2009 period. The price of gas rose and CF Moto couldn't keep up with demand for scooters. They began to subcontract work out for parts and components. As you would expect with the Chinese then, bad parts slipped through into production. My clutch shaft snapped at the top of the taper the clutch is mounted on. According to Jack Ryan, The Scooter Professor, it was because whoever did the Lathe work created a hot spot at that point which weakened the metal even after hardening. It happened to many CF Moto 250s.

If anyone recalls I was offered a Bintelli Scorch 150 for pretty much cost, to help get the name out on the streets. My local dealer just started to carry the brand. I was tempted but ended up getting a Genuine Buddy 125. I bring this up because even though Bintelli is Chinese I see them on the road and they seem to not self destruct. But now:

Someone at my work has a new Bintelli Scorch, but a 50cc. The owner puts some good miles on it and they ride everyday. I've yet to meet this elusive person but they park next to my Buddy in motorcycle parking. I will say the Scorch looks much better than the Buddy.

Oh, back to CFMoto/Qlink. The selling dealer, St. John's Karts in NC, is a super crappy. They don't care about the products they sell, and have lazy mechanics who do sloppy work. My whole Qlink experience is covered on the Burgman USA forum under the "A Qlink followed me home." thread. I'm shocked that crappy dealership is still in business. It (the dealership) must be a meth dealer money laundering front! A bad dealership can help make the owning experience that much more terrible should a problem arise.

Years ago a young man from Michigan rode a 50cc Scorch to Key West with a stop at Bintelli for a complimentary look over. Belts, rollers, adjustments and bolt tightening later he was off. No problems on the trip sometimes riding full throttle for long periods. After reaching Key West he sold it to pay for air fare to Puerto Rico.

This guy in California bought a 50cc after losing his car and liked it so much he bought a 150. All with stimulus check money. He has learned service as he goes along starting out with no knowledge at all. It's his sole means of transportation. An Ice Bear, no less.
