Honda Vultus Review

Found this road test of the Vultus. I realize it's a very pricey scooter, but many of the innovations will eventually trickle down to more affordable models.

He pretty much summed all the problems. No storage, no fuel mileage and high cost compared to a bike. I agree with him in that a NC700x Pseudo Adventure bike is a better deal for less money. It reminds me of an updated Helix with a much bigger engine. A smaller, lighter, cheaper version with a Forza engine would be cool.

Can't believe it costs 11 grand but carries very little fuel or cargo.
They might sell more if it was priced more like the CTX 700N. A 700N with DCT (no hand clutch) retails for 8 grand, and you get that nice big bazooka exhaust pipe.

This will always be the battle as far as I'm concerned. How to build a brand name scooter with a price and performance comparable to a similar sized motorcycle. As admirable as they are I don't ever see myself spending the money for a Honda when there are Chinese scooters around at a fraction of the price to satisfy the scooter bug.

Its difficult to believe that the Vultus is made by the same company that makes the new $4000 CB300F.
The CB300F doesn't really cost anymore than the retail cost of the Rebel 250, yet does far more. Being produced in Thailand keeps the cost of the CB300F down, Honda is surely giving up some profit on the 300F to lure in new riders, too.
I'm afraid the stealth appearance of the Vultus may go out of style before before Honda can work out all of the short comings it has.

The Vultas is way more machine then I care to own.
I would be buying a used Forza if I found a good enough deal on one.

I had this discussion elsewhere on the virtues of a Suzuki GW-250 ($4000) vs. a Vespa GT300 ($7000+). It mainly comes down to this. If you want a scooter, a bike isn't on your radar screen. If you want a bike, you buy a bike. A scooter isn't on your radar.

Not to start a riot but it comes down to, do you like to shift or not, are you into the feeling each gives you and what kind of person do you see yourself as? Based on those things you buy what makes you feel good not on what it costs.

My biggest problem is that I like both, but my 125cc scooter is more than adequate for my current commute.
