Poked around the net and found a Hi-Viz model at Revzilla, and the modular one.

This is a great idea, I even thought about something like this before I even know such helmets exist. Price is unbelievable though - how could a low res web cam and a tiny display cost so much? I guess I'm sticking to mirrors for the moment. Does anyone know if I can install bigger mirrors on my scoot or put some additional wide angle mirrors? Anyone tried some aftermarket mirrors? I heard about RiderScan, but it's very hard to find and I don't know if I can install it on a scooter..

Looks like you can get the RiderScan mirror....in April

http://www.huntercreate.com/index.htm

More information on the riderscan.

You could do what the gentleman at the end of the last article did ...put in mirror extenders (at least for the time being.)

BTW, ebay UK has the riderscan for sale.. ("May not ship to the USA" though...RATS!)

Hi
Impressive, but i shall wait until the technology is tested and proven in real world settings
Until then i shall stick with the trusty old reliable mirror

Was thinking.. have any of you guys ever hooked up one of those 'back-up' monitor/cams to the scoot?

They're so cheap now, you can get the waterproof camera for under $20, and a 3.5" monitor for under $20 also, depending which ones you decide to get. I bought a set to install on an ATV, but haven't actually got around to doing it yet. Just thought it might be a fun little project to do.

You just know that sooner or later some high end motorcycle/scooter company is going to offer an LED "Backup" system as an option.

Yea, I'm actually surprised there hasn't been one already (unless I haven't seen it yet). I'm making my monitor waterproof by vacuum-forming a clear sheet of lexan over/around it. The camera is already waterproof.
