repairing plastic pieces
Well I found out the silver plastic pieces on my Xingyue:
 are ABS. Stuck those back together with ABS cement. Now I'm working on the Speedo and headlight housing. The speedo backing is white plastic of some kind, tried ABS cement on it--didn't even budge. Could it be polystyrene? Use model cement on it? Or acrylic? Anybody know? And the headlight housing is some gray plastic. Neither ABS cement nor PVC cement would touch it.  Any ideas? Type of plastic? Post 'em up guys.

On another forum, there is a tutorial for plastic welding -
plastic welding tutorial http://tinyurl.com/bo5ynqy I use zip-ties, and I have a larger soldering iron. I forget the wattage. I'll add ABS cement an what not to my collection of tools and stuff. The speedo on the Xingyue - painted/inked plastic. I haven't broke one to repair. I have a "45" sticker stuck over the 65, which is a square black silhouette at night with the back light. A loose template that could be indexed for speed correction would be cool. I'd like to clear the backpane and mark it out for correctness. Steve |

Model cement will stick polystyrene, the speedo backing being thin and flexible is likely nylon which no cements can glue together. You'll have to use adhesive based bonding, not cementing like those PVC and ABS cements.
