Bike Sales Up In Q1

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/2/2555...hrough-Q1.aspx

Let's see, MIC sales are down. Any guesses if Taiwan and Chinese scooters are up or down?

95% of the scoots I see on the road are mainland Chinese. I doubt they are included in the figures in that article.

None of the Chinese or Taiwanese builders are members of MIC. The Japanese, Germans and Italians are. I surmise that saying scooter sales are down is a misrepresentation of reality.

Here will be the next dent in their sales.

Most dual purpose bikes in this size cost upwards of $5000. I don't think that everyone needs or wants a competition ready machine to explore some dirt roads. Once people get wise to this those numbers will probably creep down also.

I could live very happily with this one. Even if it's not a full blown enduro bike it would work well exploring all the dirt roads in this area. Plus it costs less than a 16" wheeled scooter.

I just noticed that both the 200cc dual sport bikes in the first post have a supermoto size front wheel (at half the price of the SSR).
