For me. The mechanical simplicity of an electric scooter is the biggest advantage. If it uses a hub motor, there is no chain, belt or cvt.

On top of the e-scooters, e-bicycles are getting faster with better ranges. I'm looking at a ebike that looks like a 70's moped. Step-thru, 28mph and a 25 mile range. Also has provisions for a rear rack and I happen to have a 39 liter SHAD trunk still in the box. No helmet, can ride on the sidewalk (within reason) and I can also carry a passenger. We'll see what happens. For $1800 it will replace my Yamaha Zuma.
