Hola! Just got my first Taotao scooter! Now what??

Greetings Everyone!

I just got a 2010 Taotao 50, and am a little disappointed!

I hope to use this forum to meet other people, and learn how to get the most from my Taotao!

I had a Honda years ago, which was great, but the Taotao caps out at 30mph, and slows to 20 on a slight incline. I'm afraid of what might happen if I tried to drive it up a hill!

I was told some things about this bike, including that I might need to check the compression, the rings, and replace the carborator.

I'm fine with all that, but don't know how! :-)

I'm also going to try to find ways to get more power from it, so I don't have these issues. Evidently, there isn't a governor, so I would really like any tips you might be willing to give!

Anyone in Denver want to come over and work on it with me? :]

It will be great to meet all of you!

Yours should get to at least 35 or 40 in stock form so yours may be restricted from the factory
Take care and ride safely
Yours Hank

Thanks!

It will be fun to learn about!

I hope to learn more in some of the other threads about how to increase power. Restricted by factory? I did read there's no governor, any ideas on what I need to do?

I like the pic of yours, mine is the yellow one! Lol-

Hi
Most are restricted by a plate in the exhaust system and a washer in the CVT
This video will explain and even though its a different model the info can be applied to most 4 stroke 50 cc scoots
