One way is to see if the engine vibrates a lot. Some people would adjust the counter balance, allowing the engine to run smoothly.
This is an advanced job though.

Another is to find a matched exhaust. The exhaust of a 100cc kit, should be larger than a 50cc.
What you can look for, is a large exhaust muffler, with a small exhaust tip.
The larger the muffler (the pot) the better the damping, and the better the free flow.
The smaller the tip, the better the damping, but the more back pressure you get (which is not good).

If you have a small muffer (pot), and a large diameter exhaust tip, you'll have a reasonably low back pressure, but a low damping too.
If you have a large muffler with a small exhaust tip, compared to a small muffler with a small exhaust tip, the back pressure is going to be the same, though the performance might go up a tiny bit, and the sound dampening would become better too.

Why did i laugh ?
"A potentiometer measuring instrument (Pot) is essentially a voltage divider used for measuring electric potential (voltage); the component is an implementation of the same principle, hence its name."

A pot is also a cooking pot; it's basically shaped as a cup.
