Not if you care about your scooter. Sucking unfiltered air will cause accelerated wear on all of the internals. Also, without the air cleaner in place, the air/fuel mix is much leaner, causing higher engine temperatures.

I removed my airbox over 6 years ago in favor of a K&N filter setup. Because of the increased air flow, I replaced the main jet with a larger one, at the same time.

Thanks rks. She's down right now anyway. I adjusted the float but didn't refill the float bowl so she won't start. I can put fuel directly tocarb and she runs but bowl is dry. Fixed stock box and will be putting that back on
