Mow Your Lawn Respectfully!

So yesterday I was leaving my house to go to the store and get some cake, etc. Everything was going fine, I pulled out of my driveway and drove off. I hit 25mph and slowed down to turn and then WHAM! I lost all control, my bike tires went out from under me and I found myself on the pavement with a big scrape on my knee and my left hand. My left shoe was also ruined at the toe, making me thank the gods for buying steel toe boots. I look down to find that the road is covered in someone's lawn clippings...

After five minutes straight of explicit cursing I got on to my still-running scooter and headed to the store trying to ignore the stinging pain on my knee surface.

Now here I am browsing Amazon for scooter tires. My current tires are pretty much bald, stock, and apparently can't even handle lawn clippings on the road. I've never heard of Pirelli, but I'm thinking of getting Michelin tires, though I'm not sure of the quality...

If you've read my other threads you know that I only have Amazon and Newegg credit to spend with. Can someone help me find the best tires on either newegg or amazon to buy?

I've got a Bashan Peace Sports 50, with 10" tires. Is there any other sizing info I need? This will be my first time buying tires, ever.

here is a good all around tire http://www.amazon.com/Continental-Zi...sim_sbs_auto_2 but i would go to a local shop cause they will put them on if you buy from them if not you will need to do it yourself not easy our pay the shop labor

Thanks, Teddy. While I would love to buy from a shop, I'm strapped for cash and the only local motorcycle shop in town doesn't carry scooter parts, so I think I have to order them either way.

Is continental the best one I can get? I've got plenty of credit and I'm not afraid to pay for the best, especially if it's hard work to put them on. If so, then I'll be ordering them in the next hour.

I use pirellis on most of my vehicles these are the ones i use on my scoots

Another tip is to constantley scan the road, i had a situation simuliar to yours
I was turning the corner and noticed a patch of fine sand in the road, if i wasnt paying attention that would have made me slide and probally go down

Depends on what you mean by best, dry, all around, wet, snow, mud but what i would do is look at reviews on motorcyclesuperstore http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...Rear-Tire.aspx then try to find the tire you want on amazon but those are good all around tires that dont wear so quick

Go for softer compound Pirelli or Kenda tires. And ride carefully when on a 10" bike. Good luck.

sorry to hear about your accident, we all have to be careful (thanks for the info, never even thought about something like that). Hope you have a speedy recovery. I just bought shinko tires 130/60/13 and I really like them, rated for 75mph.

I got my pirellis today by UPS, I put the front tire on and can already notice a huge difference when riding. Now I await my socket set for a 24mm socket in order to remove the rear wheel, thought I had one, turns out I don't.

Thanks. I got the Pirelli SL-26 tires that Hank recommended. With just one tire the riding is tremendously different.

Nice. I hope your shinko tires work well for you and that nobody else is unfortunate enough to come upon an abundance of lawn clippings in the road with bald tires like I did. Regretfully my shoes will never recover, but my hand and knee are already painless, it wasn't too bad of a fall.

I have 3 scooters all with pirelli's on them. Just put a second set on the majesty after wearing them out. Best scooter tires made. Best insurance you can buy to keep you upright, I am 70 and can not afford a broken bone, I might never ride again! I used to live near mchenry 20 years ago and was riding a gold wing at the time. john

Never get any mileage out of a Pirelli in the Arkansas heat and hills. Put a set on wife's 250 and at 2600 miles back tire is shot. Putting another one on tomorrow just so I can finish wearing out the front tire with it, don't like to mismatch tires, after that no more Pirellis.

Going to stay with Avons, my same 250 has 3600 on the rear and still going strong. Also on the average Avons are around 10 to 15% cheaper. Pirellis are soft and the rough Arkansas roads eat them up.

I like Michelin and hear great things about Heidenau apparently very grippy and durable... They will be the next set I buy once I were out the Michelin S1's that are on there...

Driving with Pirelli tires is like driving on air compared to my cheap chinese stock tires! Maybe the best purchase I've made for my scooter has got to be these pirelli tires.
