Water shouldn't be a problem unless you have been puddle jumping in it on a regular basis. Yes it can soak the filter but you really have to be driving in pouring own rain or trying to hit every pot hole in the county.

I forget it doesn't rain anywhere else in the country like it does here in Seattle.
