2003 Yamaha Vino 50 Crank Bearing Replacement

Anyone done this before? Bearing on the magneto side is definately bad. I got the motor out of the scooter. Lots of plat in the shaft on that side. Want to split the case and replace the bearings. Just looking for any advice as I am new to scooters. Special tools, tips and tricks....? Rebuilt several Puch E50 moped engines, but I think they are a lot simpler. Thanks in advance.

Well, got the variator off and looks like a need a tool to get the flywheel off.

Anyone got any advice on where to find a flywheel puller for 2003 Vino 50 cc?

Will rummage in the garage this weekend and get you part numbers for the tools. You need a flywheel (magneto) puller that reverse threads and pulls and a case splitter to split the case/and a crank puller to do the crank. TUSK make the splitter and puller and I think Burzetti brands the magneto puller. Have built several Minarelli motors. You Tube will also be your friend. Scootertuning has a tool section. Drowsports also. Brain not working today so other places are not popping in my head. Will get you the info sometime this weekend. You gonna upgrade the crank at the same time, or are you going to build a basic street 70cc and reuse the stock crank? You have a budget set for this repair/build? Also, you sure of the bearing sizes? I might have extra bearings in the freezer still from a abandoned build. I "think" the bearings are the same between Vino and Zuma style motor. We freeze the bearings and heat up the cases in the oven and the bearings will drop right in. Then, freeze the crankshaft and press it all together. E series PUCH motors are monkey proof compared to a Minarelli, but Minarelli motors are cat proof compared to a motorcycle motor. Not hard at all.

Roscoe, I would be interested. I could not find the magneto side seal for the crank shaft. Is this something you may have as well?

I need the size or at least a confirmation that they fit, the bearings that is. Seals should be the same size, again I would have to know the size or confirmed fitment. I do not recall having extra seals though. To bad you are not closer, as Im thinking of blowing out a bunch of 2 stroke items for a Minarelli horizontal off a Zuma. Not sure what is compatible with a Vino clone motor. I asked the Vino builder and he does not remember. Its been well over a year since he even started the poor Vino. Yhis Vino NEEDS to be BACK ON THE ROAD! Oh, and I will get ya that info sent Feb. 14th. Been cold and I've been busy.

But I did not go through it all.
I'm not near the mechanic as many of you are, so I need a service manual myself, and prefer a good one, when I can find one.

You Tube is so informative, but sometimes not perfect. I have made a few dumb mistakes and still do when building engines. I always use a factory service manual, paper version, and make sure I read the procedure before starting. I remember when I was a kid and was so envious of older people when they fixed something. I helped a friends dad restore a Harley while in high school. Learned so much from him, and he helped me fix my cars a.c. system! I tried to take an apprentice under my wing but it always falls apart. They get lazy, show up late, dont listen etc. Building/tuning 70cc 2 strokes is an art and it requires much more knowledge then cramming a 150cc 4 stroke into a moped frame.

The casting name marks are throwing me off. What is the VIN # and were is it stamped on the motor? also a pic of the scooter it came out of. Only saying because if its a clone motor, no matter how well cloned, something weird sized will sneak up and bite ya in the butt!

Def not a clone, it is a bonafide 2003 Yamaha Vino 50. I think my posts are getting confused. I have a Chinese Jalon post I am working on as well.

Ok, I was confused and didnt want you buying something that would not fit. My friend built the baddest Vino 2 stroke ever. I can try to get some info from him when i see him.

Sc00ter, flywheel puller came in last night. I split the case, the crank came apart, but both halves are still in their respective case halves. Do I need to press them out? I have a hydraulic press. For now I just want to put this thing back on the road stock. Wife wants a scoot for the summer, not going to put her on something I have modded.
