150 gy6 gas mileage

Just got a new gy6 150 scooter. I'm only getting 33.2mpg any thoughts?

air in tires, riders weight, road type and throttle use are a factor..the motor also has to break in, follow oil change procedure carefully, new ones are no more than 75% of full throttle for a while.. a hard break in is typically for more experienced users..

Egad! I've been getting anywhere from 75-80mpg even during break-in and after adding a windshield.

Something is amiss. I would run a few tanks through, measure your gas carefully and recalculate before going on a full panic.

One thing I have learned is to look around for a gas station that serves you best. My bike is a PITA to fill; I splash gas everywhere if I don't find a friendly pump. Also, if you use premium, look for a station with a hose for each grade. If there's just a single hose, the first gas that comes out is whatever was left after the last guy filled up. It doesn't make much difference if you are filling a 20 gallon tank, but when you are adding right around a gallon, you could be easily mixing a good percentage of your tank with lower octane fuel at premium prices.

Last time I trust a PDI service! The tires were at 20psi. I'll ride today and get another fill up and post results. Thanks for the help!

My Roketa 04 150 with the GY6 gets about 75mpg and that with hills and me at 250lbs.

Things that will reduced gas mileage.

Baggy Cloths

Lots of extra weight (Trunk full to max)

Extra bags.

Windscreen

Major hills

In need of a major tune up.

Poor gearing (CVT has worn or stuck rollers/slider and worn belt)

And a small hidden fuel leak. (Had one myself found the vac. valve leaked when parked)

How are you calculating your mileage? Is there a possibility that the odometer is not reading correctly?

If you have the capability, track your miles with GPS as closely as possible. Fill your tank full, drive the entire tank, and refill it to as exactly the same mark as closely as possible. Do this for three or four tanks and see what your average is.

This is - of course - after you have determined that there isn't something seriously mechanically wrong with the bike. You don't want to drive around that long with a gas leak somewhere.

What make is your bike?

150lbs rider, no windscreen, no extra weight, no baggy clothes, but do live in the foothills of NC. The scooter is a no name it is the same as this one http://mefast.com/Roketa/R/MC-16-150/MC-16-150.html
There is kind of a grinding noise coming fromt the CVT I opened a dispute to get the money back to get a new clutch, variator and belt; I am still in the middle of that.

A messed up CVT will cause you to have bad gas mileage.

My bike is heavily modded, and I weight 207lbs and ride up hills all day. I get 60 to 75mpg.

I don't believe any stock 150cc scooter could possibly burn that much fuel...you would have clouds of black smoke following you around...or you would be running a constant 100+ MPH.....must be loosing it somewhere (a leak, a thief, etc), or you need a new calculator.

My scooter has a windshield, I am at least 215 lbs, and live in hill country...first 2 years it averaged 75 MPG...I did some variator work this spring, and the 8 tankfuls since then have averaged 83.27 MPG.

As far as your PDI...another example of... if you want something done right..do it yourself.....just the way the world is today.
