trouble starting my 05 zuma 50
My 05 Zuma 50 and almost every time I try to start it I have to squirt startin fluid in spark plug hole or carb for it to start and then I drive it around turn it off and then it will start I guess after it warmed up and then let it sit a let it cool off then got to start with either any idea and I just replaced top end so has plenty of compression

If you're sure that a ring didn't get broken upon reassembly(it happens). I'd check to make sure the carb is clean, jets as well, also make sure intake boot is sealing well against jug and has no cracks, make sure carb. is installed all the way in the intake boot.

I would put your hand across the air box or carb opening and see if it starts then. It sounds like a balky choke. Spraying ether is a pseudo choke.

Make sure your pilot jet isn't clogged. Also check your idle speed screw.

You could get yourself a 17.5mm Dellorto Carb with a manual choke. Then if you upgrade to a 70 kit you won't have to do the carb as well. They're like 80 bucks or something though.

That ain't to bad where can I find one and will it gain me any speed?oh and now it will only run if I put my hand on the carb where air box goes and then when I punch the gas pivot my hand out a little for more air it will run fine like that but take my hand off and it runs for a few seconds and then dies unless I put my hand back over the carb

How much compression does it have?
Does it help if you squirt a lil oil in the cylinder before you start it? Oil pump working? |

It won't run right without the airbox. Don't mess with the airbox until you go 70cc, then you can take out that rubber intake snorkel. Anything else you do will mess up how it runs.

Check compression and autochoke functionality. Is the plug wet/fouled? Also make sure the fuel petcock is working properly. Really sounds like something is clogged somewhere.
