I just purchased a Piaggio Liberty 150 and this is the first scooter in a long time that I DONT have a windshield on. I also replaced my aging Nolan N104 with a Shuberth C3Lite helmet. The C3Lite is VERY quiet and Im almost not tempted to run a windshield. But I wear a noisy turtle helmet in the summer, so a windshield might be better. Windshields have the following:
Protect from all sorts of rocks and such. Mostly quiet. Ear plugs not really needed. Keep you warmer in cold weather. And: If you look thru them, they suck in the rain. Some cause horrible buffeting. Its a try and buy thing. No breeze on really hot days. Have to use a special cleaner, can be pricey. Im on the fence about buying one for the Liberty. What kind of scooter you thinking about putting it on and is it a factory screen or a universal model. Look thru or over it? The ones for my Liberty are look thru models. |

What size scooter do you have?
It will add weight, but you don't have to tuck as much to have a more comfortable ride. |

That's a decision you'll have to make on your own.....kinda like "boxers or briefs". Everyone has their personal preference.
I have 4 bikes....and all 4 have a windscreen. Guess you can tell how I feel about this topic. |

rks, I wear boxer briefs! Boxer briefs in the bike world are fly-screens. Very popular with Vespa, Lambretta and cafe racers.

I install my wind screen every winter and remove it in the spring. Its medium height. I feel no difference in speed when it is installed.

Well technically you kinda asked that question, I have a windscreen. It may be tiny but still helps with the tuck and get me to 76mph.
If you have over 50cc I'd say add a windscreen (ie 125cc and up) but it truly does help. If it didn't then why would companies waste money on forming their fairings around one. |

My wife got me a tall OEM windshield for my Piaggio Liberty after hearing me complain about getting pelted with rocks and such while riding, and its a birthday gift! Excited for it to get here!

I think that it is a matter of personal preference! I have ridden with & without them. I personally don't like them. I have ridden for over 60 yrs & in many climates & have never had one on my personal bikes! Irish

Even if he left the site, we can still talk about windshields! I just put my OEM PIaggio windshield on my Liberty and it is HUGE! You look thru it and there is no looking over it. Again, very tall! The scooter is so nice and quiet now. I just have a feeling IM gonna melt this summer when the heat comes, because I get zero breeze. I had a SYM CityCom awhile back, and it had a huge factory windshield that was very close to height and width as this Piaggio one.

We can continue the thread if the OP checks out. I hope he finds what he is looking for. Its hard to know what kind of wind screen you want without riding a scoot that has one installed.
