Gear Oil Drain Plug

Hey,
I have had a small leak from my gear oil drain plug. I'm not sure if I used a new washer in previous oil changes or not ... I can't seem to find replacements anywhere.
I was wondering if anyone had a line on replacement washers, or better yet, a superior type of washer.
I have been considering coating the existing washer with silicone on the next oil change.
This is only a minor leak ... more prominent when not ridden for a while. Even so, the leak is only about one drip per day; with only an ounce of oil, that could become a problem.
This is a 150cc TaoTao with 1,700 miles.

If you want a "Backyard" fix , after changing the washer , put Teflon (used in plumbing) tape on the threads of the plug! Make sure that you go in the proper direction with the tape!

The reason that I suggested the tape is that you can eventually remove & replace it. With sealant , you have to remove it the next time that you take the plug (drain plug) out. Removing sealant can be a bitch!

Does no one make a superior washer, other than aluminum. I was thinking of something like the ones I have for my daughter's RAV4, that appear to be a fibrous paper on an aluminum core.

There are washers made of a nylon like material, for this purpose, and available at autoparts stores. You'll find them in packages of 5 or 10, hanging somewhere near the drain plug area. I use one under the oil temperature sending unit, that screws into the drain hole on the left side of my scooter's engine (157QMJ). If you can find one small enough to fit the tranny drain, it would work great.

If not, I'd go with Teflon tape as suggested above.

Thanks rks. I haven't looked for the Nylon washers yet, but I like the idea for simplicity.
This weekend I did an oil change and gear oil as well. I used the brush-on, Teflon, thread sealant. It has been 2 days now and the plug is dry.
