Reason for being a newbie here and starting this wonderful little thread is that I'm buying a scooter. (of course I am!!! only reason to come here right? ;p) anywhooo... whats everyone's opinion on a taotao evo150cc? I heard they're alot of minor maintenance but I'm still interested. what kinda scooter does everyone else own? any recommendations?!

Hiya and welcome! If you decide to go with the 150 just do a thorough pdi to catch any of the little "icky-pickys" that might catch you. http://x1scooters.com/pdi.html

I'd recommend the Powermax 150. Less nice looking, but I presume it's going to be easier on maintenance than the EVO150.
There are not many dealers that want to work on chinese scooters. So my suggestion is to either get a complex scooter with dealer support (meaning maintenance, repairs, etc), or get a cheap, easy, simple scoot that you can work on yourself. If you get a complex bike, with lots of extra options, a lot can go wrong, and repairs generally are more of a pain. |
