Popped in my head. On my old Honda Helix scooters I've had both side stand safety switches fail. The easy way is to bypass them. I fixed them correctly. It's a safety feature.

Do you have a chipped key for anti-theft? My Liberty did the same thing you describe (I don't have a side stand though) and the key reader in the ignition switch assembly failed. $10 part. I keep a spare reader ring on hand now.

My old SYM CityCom had BOTH brake lever micro-switches brake within a day! Back one went first, so I was using the front brake. Well, it failed on the way to work the following day. I keep a extra micro switch on hand now for my current scooter.

You scooter has a main fuse hidden somewhere. Check it just to be sure. There is also a main ground (usually around the transmission cover) that if it becomes disconnected fun things happen.

Have you done, or had done, any service work lately? Has the scoot been crashed? I'll keep thinking and if you figure it out please post a follow up.
