Hmm. Kph would not apply to the odometer, as it has no time component. "Per hour" only applies to your speed.
I don't know where you live, but out west, major streets are 1 mile apart, on section lines. You could use that to check the ODO.
If your highways have mileposts on the shoulder, you could check the ODO with that.
-My son had a Buick that allowed you to switch the speedometer from MPH to KPH, but the ODO always logged miles.
