Valves are self-tightening. They require regular inspection every 800 miles or so. Gy6 valves are supposed to be set to .004" for the intake, and .005" for the exhaust. This valve to rocker arm gap is not a variable setting, no bike requires " less" gap. Valves must be adjusted ONLY WHEN ENGINE IS DEAD-COLD.

If your bike starts hard, cuts out after becoming warm, or won't start after being shut down and is still at operational temp, it is 99% likely you have over-tight valves.
I think that one of the most important things that you said was that the valves must be adjusted " ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS DEAD-COLD"! I worked in a place that built MANY drag-racing street bikes & many times had to wait over-night to tune an engine in order to make sure that the engine was dead cold" Thank you for bringing that up! It makes a HUGE difference! Irish
