If you use 100% gasoline you can let it sit for a long time. 6 months or a year. If the fuel has ethane a month? That's if the gas tank is sealed with a good cap and vapor control so moisture isn't absorbed by the alcohol added to the gas. I've had lawnmowers and small engines sit all winter and start with the gas that was left in them, not a good idea but I've done it. Really, ethanol is the carb killer with small engines and it's also tough on many of the fuel lines. I just replaced the gummy fuel lines on a weed trimmer yesterday.
