They're probably sending you a new Reg/Rectifier cause it's cheaper than a battery.
But, yea, ya still should have a volt meter hard wired in to see what the charging system is doing.
I have one on my Honda Shadow it saved me some headache cause I could see the voltage dropping, and headed home, and it died just as I got there.
Agreed, give the battery a good charge and see if it retains a full charge. Chances are it was just drained, enuf to start the coot, but not enuf to maintain a good charge.
