Compeller/Magnum Early Rear End Tear Down
I tore down a center section of a compeller rear diff ( early magnums are the same) and took pictures of it disassembled. This week, as time permits, I hope to reassemble it and take pictures as I do it and will post a tutorial.
In the mean time here is what I got so far.
I left the bearings in the main housings.
Axel Drive Gear Assembly
Reverse/Forward Shifting Fork
Reverse/Forward Shifting Fork Disassembled
The fork removed from the rod. This shows the check ball in place. The rod has a slot cut into it where this ball ( and spring below it) rides on the shaft.
Reverse/Forward Gear Assembly
Drive Gear
Shift Rod Along with the Lever is what moves the fork from forward to reverse.
Side Case Notice the shim to the left of the case. This shim keeps the bearing in the proper position
Side Case Notice the shims to the right of the case. These shims keeps the bearings in the proper position.
