My vento does not run right with out the stock air box. No matter what main jet is in it. It just will not run right with a open filter. I put the stock air box back on and then it runs just fine.

Got the airbox on? Is the airbox in good shape with no cracks ect? Blocking the intake to get it to run tells me that you are not getting the fuel. The qmb49 engine will run badly with out the air...

Yes that is a problem. You may wish to check the diaphragm. It might have a pinhole in it. Also make sure there are no vacuum leaks as these carbs are vacuum operated.
