The new gear just presses on. When you tighten the variator it will press that gear on to the tapered part of the crankshaft. Make sure when you put the new gear on the tapered cut goes to the inside

That’s awesome. Never done a trip over 200 miles on my scooter but done long trips on motorcycles. I’d take at least a basic tool kit. An extra cvt belt. Extra oil and a way to carry some spare fuel....

I wish I had an answer for you but I have a question instead. Why not build a 232 with 4 valve head? Then you could possibly run a slightly bigger turbo? Move more air on both ends. Just a thought....
