new scooter owner 1st timer
 

Hello everybody,
I'm a retired guy and bought my 1st scooter ever. I plan on using it to to get around my community and drive around some side streets and go to the local park and fishing pier.

On 8/23/18 I purchased a 2016 hyosung qt50 49 cc scooter with 4 miles on it from a large cycle dealer here in my town. it was reasonably priced $1,200 out the door.

from what I understand this is a GY6 type scooter with the most popular scooter motor a ( 1P39QMB) I put 40 miles on it already.It rides nicely I look forward to getting a lot of information from The Forum and learning about the scooter.

I'm also curious if anybody else has the same kind of scooter that I do? I can't seem to find a lot of information on it on the web. I am hoping that I'll be able to get parts for it.

From what I understand the GY6 is very common so parts will be easy to get so will see.

First off, welcome! Your Hyosung must be a 4 stroke. You can order parts direct from Hyosung's US distributor. There is also a dealwership in the North/East area (need to look it up) that has a great online catalog, plus you get a little Bible quote with your order! Both are great to deal with. Hyosung scooters, and motorcycles, are excellent quality. I had an older 2 stroke Sense 50cc by them and would buy another Hyosung without hesitation. Use only genuine parts, especially the transmission belt. There is/was a online group but I dont think anyone has posted in years. Racing Planet sells a few hop-up parts if you wanna get a bit more pep from it.

Thank you!!! I got the scooter bug and bought one more today because I have a friend that wants to ride with me and I got a similar scooter. I today picked up a gator 50 scooter 49cc it I believe is mechanically like my Hyosung QT50 Revival Scooter.

Treat it right and you'll get a lot of service out of it. GY6 parts are everywhere, they are the main transportation in most of the 3rd world countries. Flea Bay, Amazon, dealers. When the time comes to replace the belt buy a kevlar type. Keep an eye on the tire pressures and oil. Know where that main fuse is near the battery, there should be a spare with it. Gosh, there are so many little things I can think of. I suppose the main things that comes to mind is ride defensively all the time and use 100 % gasoline. I'll be 70 next month and I've usually had some kind of cycle (now scooters) since I was 14 and thus far a lot of close calls but I'm still around. If you decide you'd like more get up and go than the stock 50cc has, big bore kits are cheap and will make getting to the store and back much easier. No. It's actually a Bashan. There were numerous versions of this Vespa lookalike sold over the years.
