Having trouble solving this issue.
Lately I have been having this weird issue of vibrations coming from my bike. It is a TaoTao thunder-50. Recently the belt went on me so I put on a new one, and replaced the variator because I scratched it up trying to get it off (oops). The issue i have is it feels like the clutch side pully is getting hung up during its in/out movement. I have a video here https://youtu.be/Fhrjh_lNYr4 that will show you exactly what I'm talking about. I have search for for 3 days now on the internet and have found nothing that answers my question. I'm trying to figure out if its the spring or the whole assembly that needs to be replaced. or if there might be something else thats causing this.
Thank you in advance!! Details about the bike: 2014 TaoTao 80cc upgrade stock head Stock carb stock clutch assembly 5g Dr. Pully sliders New gates powerlink belt almost 7000km |
So easy. You have a roller in the variator that is sideways. Take it off and look. That is probably the rattling noise when you shut it down.

I will double check that. the rattling is the starter sheath when i took my finger off it.
Thank you I will post an update once i get in there. |
Ok, update time. I changed my 5g drPully's for what I think are 6-7g rollers and it lessened the issue but the belt still flaps but within a smaller rpm grouping.

Clutch is not closing. Replace the entire clutch, it's like 50 for a performance clutch on Amazon.

Belts will always "fail" a small amount in last 10% of rpms when watched on stand. But on ground, wheel's resistance will basically prevent you from ever truly using that last 10% "stand rpms".
