rev limiter
I bought a minerelli clone chinese scooter and they claim up to 45mph which we no isn't true.how do I no if the cdi has a limiter on it?will it max out then decrease in rpms then go up
|
i know another person on another forum that just bought the same scooter and he says he is hitting 43mph if its restricted yes those are signs and it wont go over 35 mph mine didnt

A rev limiter is controlled by the CDI.
Usually if the revs are limited, it'll not pass a certain RPM. You can have hard engine RPM increase, but the engine won't rev beyond 5k RPM (or something), meaning instead of taking forever to climb in RPM's, it'll kind of reach peak RPM (at least 2500RPM below normal max revs) quite fast... |
So I I put it on a stand and it revs to 8.000or so I'm assuming there no limiter.no sense in wasting my money on a aftermarket
|
Makes no sense indeed. Even on the road, your bike will probably never reach 8k rpm.
Although a true rev unlimited CDI could get your engine going 11k RPM and up (until it explodes, lol)... However, on the road, with wind resistance, and friction, your engine will never rev higher than 8k RPM, unless if you have a lower geared 2 stroke engine, those sometimes can reach 10k RPM. |
I guess I'll do a pipe.rejet and get a stronger clutch spring and variator weights.that should be enough for what I want.I don't want to kill the top end but I want it to be better uphill.

Once again i question your facts, have you ever owned or ridden a 2 t scoot? My april can easily hit her redline of 12,000 rpm At 11,500 shes hitting 63 mph http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8370/8...7e22a97c_b.jpg Sr 50 top speed by inuyasha50, on Flickr And with the liquid cooling she can run at that speed all day if necessary Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |

Then again Inuyasha, you have a 2 stroke,
it's unlikely for a 4 stroke to get upto those revs in normal operation. |

The OP and every one else who posted here in this thread owns and are talking about 2 t scoot engines not 4 t s, your the only one that brought them into the thread. Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank |
