United Motors 150 Build

Well i figured by starting a build thread this would be a good tool to look back on to see my progress so here goes. I had started messing around with 50cc gy6s and went through building 8 or more till one day it finally hit i need more displacement so i scored an 05 United Motors 150cc small frame scoot it had 2000 miles on it and guy said he couldnt get it to run so i scored it for 200 bucks.

Plans for the ped:
Set valve lash to .004 in./ex.
Change Oil and all fluids
NGK Plug
Inspect Belt
RIDE!!!

Well after cleaning all the grease and oil off i changed the oil which was pitch black installed new plug and set the valves and cleaned the walbro carb and she fired up BUT...This thing sounded rough knocking like nothing ive heard before i was bumed. Me and my Buddy here on the forums (MeanMachineMotofino) decided we needed to take it apart and what we found was a slap worn out rod bearing there was 1/2" of play on the up and down motion on the rod...Guys i have a blown motor : (

Well luck came my way and found another 150 my buddy had that had been stripped but ran good for 60 bucks. It came with engine gasket set and new aftermarket cdi box. Time to swap out Engines

Me and MeanMachineMotofino got to work first we took out the blown motor and threw it hard as we could against the wall and swapped good motor over into the UM 150. We used the non egr head that came on the blown scooter as well as cam because it had lower miles. After engine was in place we set valves to .004 poured in fresh Kendall 10-40w oil cleaned carb again and while we was in the carb we drilled the main and pilot jets 1 size bigger and removed junky looking air box and took stock silencer off pushed the button and she came to life YES!!!!!!! It was quiet snappy for not even tuning on the carb went out for a test and hit 50mph GPS verified. Does this speed sound right? I think there is more in it...It launches awesome but soon as u hit 35 its a slow climb to 50 and thats only turning 7000 rpms.

I forgot to mention i also installed a performance cdi box with no rev limiter. So besides Ported straight pipe,no filter (Temporary), CDI box, jetted, and NGK plug its completely stock. Im a heavy rider about 250lbs so does 50mph topspeed sound right and why cant i get my rpms up above 7000? Im thinking its in my CVT since its not been touched although i did weigh my rollers last night and they are 13g. I couldnt ask for better take off but i would like better mid-range/top-end.

Decided to lower the scoot a bit since it looked like a 4x4. For the back i just relocated the shock to the 2nd hole on the case and looks really good but will be upgrading to an adjustable nitrogen shock to get it just right and stiffen it up a little. For the front i loosened the fork tree bolts and hammered the $hit out of it till it got me about 2" lower to the ground. Im not happy with the front its still too high but for now it will work. Pics are not that great wish i had some before shots it looks way better than stock height IMO.

I decided that it was time for some paint im not a big fan of the factory looking appearances nor the red and i didnt feel like spending 250+ dollars for a professional paint job after all its a scooter so i scuffed all the plastics down and painted with some heavy duty rustoleum still got some painting left to do and graphics but for now i think it looks alot better than it did. What u guys think?
