roketa 250 54b should I do a custom build off of it?

Hey guys I have a 08 roketa 250 54b. The stupid shock bracket broke so it's down and out of commission for now. I only paid 600 for it a few weeks ago and so far only needed a new back tire.
The reason I'm starting this thread is to see if it's worth it to just pull it all a part and make a custom build. I want something stretched and dropped and also do some performance mods to it. Is this scoot worth breaking down and doing a build, or should I fix her and sale her and get something else to do a cool build out of.

Hmmm. There are a few directions you could go in.
-You could remove the bodywork and make a Big Ruckus replica.
-Extending the wheelbase could be tough on a 250cc scoot. You will need to find a longer CVT.
150cc scoots extend their wheelbase by adding a long CVT (made for 16" wheels) to a scoot with 10 or 12" wheels.
-You could keep the bodywork and lower the scoot to make it look like a drag racing bike.
They all sound like fun.

I think it would be awesome. I would like to do a 250 some day. I like tha size and model. Tear it down and lets see whats underneath. Im trying to figure out how to move the motor mounts back on mine.

Yes. The 250cc Ruckus clone really appeals to me, but I guess it depends on the conditions where you live.

Maybe you found these pics already, if not here is the link to some crazy rebuilds.

I seek out tuning sites always trying to squeek a bit more from my 250cc motor.

Those are some seriously slammed scoots.

I have an MC-79-250 with the linhai engine, pretty much the same body style as yours. I've been looking around for the last couple of years for ways to make it better and more comfy, and there just doesn't seem to be much being done with these scoots. Mine has been very reliable and, other than the plastics, I've been happy with it, but the ride could be more comfy. At $600, I'd fix the shock mount and continue to ride, while looking for a burgman or majesty or forza to do a build on. Most of the modded and lowered scooters are using japanese scooters under them, along with either pneumatic or hydrolic shocks. My thought is that there is probably a couple of forums that cater to these moders so that you would have an existing "brain trust" to pick, instead of bumping into mod problems on the 250 that no one else has answers to. Just my opinions, of course. And if you do mod out the 250, please post progress pics. We love that stuff around here.

I'm following a Helix build thread over on TR, (the naked Helix) someone posted this link up from Germany.
I hope to simply give you some ideas, I found these to be amazing builds.

really like the fishtail exhaust on the metal clad one. There are some great seat mods on that site, and of course, the side hacks are always a pleasure to see. Thanks for the link, cheapeto.

The Helix no longer looks dated when the body panels come off. Great link, Cheapeto!

I'm glad someones else is into them also. I know they are not what many think of when the Helix comes to mind.
The great thing, (to me anyway) is the shear amount of them out there!! I'm finding them in all years, and some are pricey and many are not.
One guy told me his body panels, as he sold them paid for much of his scooter. I dont think that is always going to happen or anything, but any return is better than nothing.

Here is one I didn't thing about, Los nunus. You could strip the body panels and go steampunk. Steampunk builds incorporate a lot of copper tubing, brass, big steam gauges, flyball governors and so on. Electrical parts are usually in wood cases and have big vacuum tubes attached. The best thing about a steam punk build is that you use the types of gadgets that people normally want to throw away.

"Looks a rolling distillery to me."
Great idea. Turn your scooter into a cash cow.
