stock airbox replacement

Hi. I am new here. Thanks for having me. I have a 2014 tao tao 50 cc atm a1. Its all stock still. I bought in late july 2014. It now has 2500 miles on it. It currently goes 50 mph. Very fast i think for a 50cc. I mean my neddle pegs all the way down. I broke in very slowly. Changed oil like 6 times Already. Put in iridium plug. Only thing i changed so far. My Question is can i only replace that bulky black air box with a 12$ one i ordered off ebay. Thinking this will maybe give me 5 more mph if engine can breathe that he wat it should be. Do i have to mess with idle or a/f mixture? Thanks everyone

Eliminating the air box will require major rejet... just to equal the stock performance. Try to find someone that has made the same mod and is pleased with the results. This will save much time and expense setting up the carb.

No, generally though changing the air intake requires a rejet of both idle and top end. You might see another 3-5Mph depending on how much air the stock filter was allowing. IMHO if it isn't broke, don't mess with it.
