Compeller/Magnum Early Rear End Tear Down
I tore down a center section of a compeller rear diff ( early magnums are the same) and took pictures of it disassembled. This week, as time permits, I hope to reassemble it and take pictures as I do it and will post a tutorial.
In the mean time here is what I got so far. http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00950.jpg I left the bearings in the main housings. http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00952.jpg Axel Drive Gear Assembly http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00959.jpg Reverse/Forward Shifting Fork http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00957.jpg Reverse/Forward Shifting Fork Disassembled http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00958.jpg The fork removed from the rod. This shows the check ball in place. The rod has a slot cut into it where this ball ( and spring below it) rides on the shaft. http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00955.jpg Reverse/Forward Gear Assembly http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00956.jpg Drive Gear http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00954.jpg Shift Rod Along with the Lever is what moves the fork from forward to reverse. http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00961.jpg Side Case Notice the shim to the left of the case. This shim keeps the bearing in the proper position http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/t...f/DSC00960.jpg Side Case Notice the shims to the right of the case. These shims keeps the bearings in the proper position. |
