Throttle issue
Just bought a 2005 Eton Beamer Matrix II a week ago and drove it home (20 miles) and it topped out at about 40 mph.
Last night I decided to start it and it was not a good idea for how cold it was in retrospect because the throttle stuck really bad. I decided to wait til noon ish the next day to see how it felt when it was at least 40 degrees out. So... the throttle felt fine. I took it out for a short ride and it didn't make it up to 40 mph. I wonder if I stretched the throttle cable the night before? Or maybe I'm being paranoid and the wind was against me. I'll test it out on another warm day. Any thoughts? |
Probably just the wind. Did you try going in opposite directions and seeing if you get the speed back the other way?
Also is this a 2t or 4t bike? If it's a 4t it could definitely be time to adjust the valves and if it's got a few thousand miles on it it might need some transmission maintenance like a new belt and new CVT weights. |
Hi, thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately it snowed quite a bit last night so there won't be any riding for a while. I have to learn before I can do any of that maintenance, I know nothing about mechanics. Never got the 101 on any of it so I gotta do that somehow if I only knew where to go.. :) |
How often are you suppost to change the weights on these scoots? I have a little under 10k km on mine and have never changed them I just changed my belt but it wasn't even cracked I jus didn't want it to explode like I have seen pictures of.

Wasn't trying to hijack your thread it was just brought up.

I don't mind at all Rhompin. I wish I could answer your question. So you have an Eton just like mine with 10k? Nice!
|
No I have a 2006 tank sporty. It's a 150 and its km not miles so its like 6000 miles
|
Still getting snow and haven't had a chance to ride it again to see if it will get back up to 40 or not.
|
The scooter is doing great! Cold weather and scooters just don't mix I guess.
|
Glad you're doing good with the scoot!!
