intake riser pros/cons?
i just picked up a stretched and lowered tao tao powermax 150 and i'm tearing it down and rebuilding. Because of the rear mount the previous owner flipped the carb around and started cutting (or possibly chewing, it was pretty ugly). I flipped it around the right way but it won't clear the mounting shaft/mount. I figure the simple solution would be to stack a few insulators until it clears or order an intake riser. The engine is stock with bolt on's to best of my knowledge. What are the effects of lengthening the intake manifold if any?

On v8 engines, a spacer usually improves high rpm power. I have not tried a spacer on a gy6.

I've seen pictures of a couple radiator hose extensions, but nothing that looked like a quality setup

I have "ported & polished " intake manifolds on motorcycles(Triumphs) but have never worked on that type of eng! I did it to help RPM in drag racing but I doubt if your going to Drag Race a scooter! Sorry can't help!:hmm::shrug: Irish:scoot::nuts:
