tire sizes for 150cc
 

I have a flat on my rear tire. Its a 130/60/13. I have also beenwanting a higher top speed. Since I need a new tire , I figured kill two birds with one stone. Would a 150/70/13 fit on my scoot?

Probably not. But its rather impossible for us to know.
You would have to look at what clearance you have.

True. I want to believe it will fit. I found a screw and I plugged it. Its just temp to get home, I don't feel safe with a plug. I will check clearance and then hopefully buy the tires

oh and on a sad and funny note. I am looking at a discount tire link on the top of our page. I got my flat on the way to work this morning(screw in the middle, at lunch I went to discount tire (on my flat tire)to see if they could plug it for me,(just to make it home). they said no, we dont touch bikes...which is why I find the ad funny, but the guy did add some air for me, enough to make it back to work flat again. So I went back to work, my coworker lent me her car to go to the autopart store and I plugged it myself. After work, I went back to Discount tire to add air for my 13 mile ride home. They actually refused to air up my tire! I found it very disrespectful that they actually told me I needed to drive to a convenient store and do it myself. Anyways, Im rambling...Ill measure tires tomorrow since I was super busy today

thanks for the link inuyasha. and I personally wont go there anytime soon. The rear tire looked like it would fit a 150/70 with a centimeter to spare on the cvt side, but that would be before any tire expansion due to heat. The front looked like there would be no way I could wedge a 150/70 in there. I could only find a 140/60 and not a 140/70, so a 140 is out of the question because the top speed gain is 1 mph...That leaves my best choice as a 130/70 it wont be any wider than stock, but it will give a 3mph top speed gain if my engine can push it. (my current gps verified top speed is 55mph) This size will fit nicely on both the front and rear. All that is left is brand choice. Pirelli or Shinko. I assume Pirellis better, it cost more and Ive actually heard of the company, but I have no experience with either brand, so I wont jump to conclusions. What do yall think I should get?

rope-plugs are perfectly fine for scooter tires. But if you wanna get fancy, you can use a metal and rubber plug, but those must be installed from the inside of the tire so you have to dismount one side of the tire from the rim to install them.

No the 70's will not fit a gy6 longcase, they are too tall.

And lastly 70's will not increase your top speed.

K, thx inusasha, I've decided on pierellys. Techie, good brand and I like pattern, but nt in size I want. Blue, is it ok to ride with plug??, I'm doing it, but just till I get these new tires. Also, to make them fit, I might need to move the front tire guard slightly and the guard in the rear, but other than that I sen no issue. But I'm fairly certain I can achieve a higher top seed with these tires cince they have a larger circumference. P..S. I'm in a rush and on my cell phone, so please excuse any typing errors

I used to be an Asst. Mgr for a Discount Tire and they are just way too "by the book." None of their equipment is rated for scooter / motorcycle tires and they don't like to touch stuff they can't fix for liability reasons. My buddy still works there and I ordered my scooter tires from him for a good price just had to have them installed elsewhere. Sorry you had that experience. If it were me I would have plugged it. They just have weird rules.

I would use the same size F&R . You have to have the tire deflated in order to mount it .

I also like to run a matched set instead of new with an old and of diff tread pattern

i have the stock tires but i wil be buying some michelins soon for better grip, i dont trust the china tires
