Electric scooters are a reality now in our cities and suburbs. It's still going to be a while before electric motorcycles replace our Sportsters.

I totally agree with that. keep in mind that the biggest scooter market here is 50cc. Tao Tao Ponies and other Chinese brands with the same design are selling like hotcakes while Name Brands can't give their scooters away. It shows that the majority of people buying scooters are using them for short hauls. An electric scooter at a reasonable price would fit that bill.

I'm looking forward to the e-scooters. The NUI GT looks tempting. I wish we got that big BMW on our coast. KYMCO is supposed to be bringing some electric scooters to the USA soon. I'm just tired of messing with carbs now. The hobby scooter just sits in pieces now. My runner has fuel injection and its fine for what I use it for, but I would replace it in a second for a quality, supported e-scooter. The Vespa one is cool but its to slow and to pricey. Guess I'll wait and see whats coming.

For me. The mechanical simplicity of an electric scooter is the biggest advantage. If it uses a hub motor, there is no chain, belt or cvt.

On top of the e-scooters, e-bicycles are getting faster with better ranges. I'm looking at a ebike that looks like a 70's moped. Step-thru, 28mph and a 25 mile range. Also has provisions for a rear rack and I happen to have a 39 liter SHAD trunk still in the box. No helmet, can ride on the sidewalk (within reason) and I can also carry a passenger. We'll see what happens. For $1800 it will replace my Yamaha Zuma.
