how long is to long?

I've been reading a lot of articles about not riding your scooter for months and how it can damage it

what about if you don't ride or start it for 4 or 5 days can that hurt it as well

how long is too long

are you safe not not riding your scooter every 3 or 4 days without gumming up the carburetor or causing other issues

If you use 100% gasoline you can let it sit for a long time. 6 months or a year. If the fuel has ethane a month? That's if the gas tank is sealed with a good cap and vapor control so moisture isn't absorbed by the alcohol added to the gas. I've had lawnmowers and small engines sit all winter and start with the gas that was left in them, not a good idea but I've done it. Really, ethanol is the carb killer with small engines and it's also tough on many of the fuel lines. I just replaced the gummy fuel lines on a weed trimmer yesterday.

I have a 98 Yamaha Zuma that I try to ride at least once a week. When I purchased it the "fuel" was pure sludge in the tank and a lacquer like substance was in the float bowl. The poor thing sat for 2 years! I managed to salvage pretty much everything though. I run whatever cheap 10% ethanol fuel during the riding season, then my wife will pick me up 10 gallons on pure gas before the riding season ends. I no longer have any gas powered lawn equipment but do own 3 gas powered scooters. You got lucky Roscoe! None of my gas powered lawn equipment worked after last winter. Granted, I didnt winterize them and had 10% fuel in them, but last winter was brutal here!

I looked on Gas Buddy and found a E0 (no-ethanol) fuel station right around the corner! 90 octane to. Gonna check it out on Monday.

Let's see. My ten year old CCS is sitting in the garage with, oh, two year old gas in the tank. I haven't started it in a month or so. Let me go see....................

Yup, started right up and settled down to a steady idle. You should be good for three or four days.

good to know!! I live in Florida and will enjoy the scooter at least 3 or more times a week all year round. I put 91 octane fuel in it. I am still in the break in period on the jijue gt 50. It currently has 15 miles on it. so following the break in instructions to the letter.. I will say so far it starts right up with in a second once I hit the button. So it must have been gone over real well at the bike shop, it also idles nicely and accelerates with easy and stops well. I wont go over 20 for a couple hundred miles. So far so good. I like the idea how easy it starts. The HYOSUNG QT50 my wife has is also nice with 66 mi on it now. BUT I notice occasionally it takes 2 or 3 tries to start if it sat overnight unlike the jijue that starts 1st try every time ( so far) when cold. There both nice although I like the jijue a bit better.

When I bought my house in 1988 there was an old mower in the back of the shed, it had a broken handle. Two or three years later the wheels on my mower broke, so I dragged out the old mower and took the wheels. After removing the wheels I thought "I should give it a tug and see if will turn over". So I pulled the starter cord... and it started! I put the wheels back on, took the handle from my mower and used it as my main mower for another 5 years.
