Hi all,

I've read countless posts from this forum over the years, and thought I would try to give something back to this community.

My goal is to build a custom "frame job" GY6 150 based scoot.
By "frame job" I mean, no body. Keep it simple, clean, and modify just about everything.
I have a few ideas, and I know many more will develop as the build progresses.
So for now I'll just say Hello.

Welcome from chilly SE Michigan

It's called "Naked" ;)
I like it.
Looking forward to the development

You might want to look into a 150cc GY6 Ruckus clone as a starting point. All the brackets and wiring are taken care of and hidden to start with. Plus the Ruckus community is fairly vast and could offer numerous helps if you need it.

Thanks guys,
The "RUK" look is sort of what I'm aiming for.

Sort of.

I'm really going for more of a California bicycle kind of feel, where there are no rules or precedents.
A few things that I have set in stone (so to speak) are...
Darkside rear (maybe front too)
Chrome baby "apes"
Handmade speedo console (fiberglass)
Handmade his/hers seat (fiberglass/custom cover)
Reversed intake/carb
Complete modified CVT
Rear gear sets
Dual caliper front disk
Slight/tasteful stretch, and lowering of the whole bike
Grind, and fillet the entire frame
Big bore kit
Finally, I have decided on a color scheme. Pearl white frame, silver flake red, and (pearl) white wheels, two tone satin gray engine (mid to dark gray), and the seat cover to match (gray/red).
Of course the engine mods to complement the build like a cool ass pipe, modified intake, fan/intake cowl.

I'm usually pretty slow on projects but my other scoots are beaten into the ground, and I am putting this build on the front burner
There is a little progress so far, and I don't want to go too far before taking "before" picts so I will start a build thread shortly.
Any suggestions on where to post this as a build?

Also, EVERYTHING I remove from the bike is up for grabs.
It is a UM (United Motors) 150. The body is complete, and in very good shape. Maybe 2-3 broken tabs that didn't matter anyway. The exhaust is going, front, and rear tires, seat, CVT parts, ect...
I'll ship this stuff to anyone that wants it, and they can pay me for shipping AFTER they get it, and like it. No cost for the parts. I have a garage full of old scooter stuff.

Anyway... I'll keep updating as I build, and my next posts will have Picts of the progress.
Thanks for the forum, and the hellos

Oh yeah,
Since Hillary lost, I have a survival shelter FULL of items that I won't be needing...
18 years worth of Raman Noodles (chicken flavored)
300 cases of Orange Tang
About 400 cases of Cheetos
60 gallons of Vasoline
One slightly dog eared copy of Hustler (June 2013)
I'll be keeping the cigars tho... We all need at least one vice.

Ok, so on with the show.
I'll be posting soon.

Thanks!

About 400 cases of Cheetos :ugh: Might permanently stain yer fingers orange (and whatever else it comes in prolonged contact with)
(along with an orange stained tongue from the Tang)
60 gallons of Vasoline and one slightly dog eared copy of Hustler (June 2013) LOL!! :lmao: prolly a left hand version

so now he's gonna tell us it was a typo and his typing finger slipped down from the "G" for gasoline and printed the "V" making it vasoline instead :lmao: :hehe: HILARIOUS (Hillary-less)

Hey, I'm all about the darkside, but that doesn't really work for the front... unless you do what is called "double darkside" and that would be a scooter rear tire up front along with a car tire on the rear. (one of my scooters is like that...) It makes the front feel heavy and tracks oddly because of the wider tire up front... works pretty good for when I pull the singlewheel trailer though.

Can't say that I've seen a car tire on a Ruck type scooter under 250cc because of the wheel size. But a lot of them do "Phatty" or "Fatty" with a much wider rim and tire than stock for scoots below the 250cc size.

In the Performance :: Maintenance :: Technical section there is a Custom Builds heading. That would seem to be the proper place for posting on your build project. I'll be watching for it. :scoot:

Thanks for the laughs, and the advice Bandito2.
Um, yeah. (G)asoline is what I meant. yeah.

I have a 50cc LSR bike that I run the larger (rear) tire on the front, with the same rear tire on the rear. I did that in an attempt to use to extra weight to stabilize the front, and avoid the tank slapping wobbles. :s
It does work as I had expected BUT it makes for a hella nerve wracking ride on the street. That's why I am on the fence so far as to what to do on the front of this build.
Maybe a 10" pizza cutter or a 14-15" spoked MX wheel???
I'll have to give it some thought.
I'm not really into the fat tire look as in the Ruks you see everywhere. It's been done to death. Like a desert island, and one song (Free Bird of course).

I think the reason you don't see many (if any) Dark Side 150s is the only passenger car tire that fits is a 135/80 R13. That size is not available in the USA. I had to order one from the UK.
So a 30 dollar tire becomes 112.00 with shipping/tax.

I plan to get all that back when Chelsea is appointed somewhere in Donald's cabinet so it's just a short term investment.
Did I mention I also have about 1000 Crazy Straws? Those things are just so much fun.

Hi Jocko,
To post a thread of your own, pick a forum that fits your post from the main menu.Ie: New Members, Custom Builds, 250cc Scoots, ect.
On the top left just above the title bar for that forum you'll see the "Post new thread" button.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum
