I was lurking at Modern Vespa today when I spotted this.

As I have made little secret of, I like Chinese scooters. In the almost seven years I've been on these forums I have seen very few problems with China scoots like I've seen with some name brands. The Stella 4T shifty http://www.genuinescooters.com/stella4.html was a $3700 bike or in simple terms, three online Chinese 150cc scoots or two online Chinese 250cc scoots. It's even a thousand bucks more than a SYM Wolf.

I could post pictures and threads of $6000 Vespa 250cc GTs dropping valves, burning wire connections and cracking spark plug caps, but why bother. It would just be piling on.

So far I haven't seen anything to condemn Japanese scooters. Those seem to be assembled well even if they are a tad bit slow and heavy for the price.

Even here and other forums what do you read. "My 50cc Tao Tao won't start after sitting all winter." After receiving numerous advice the end reads. "Thanks Guys. I got it going. The carburetor was fouled with bad gas." That's not to mention the numerous threads that deal with loose electrical connections. Very few, if at all, about blown cranks, dropped valves or electrical fires in badly built connecters.

"I declare that from this day forth Chinese scooters have arrived." No more slights, shots or insults from people who own expensive underachievers. I know where the threads are, I know who can and can't brag about their scooters. The Chinese are here and doing fine.

everyone has problems. a lot of ours are easier to fix, and often in less critical areas...
