rebuilt engine and found burnt wire on stator. Replaced stator and wires in rear portion of wire loom. Started engine and burnt out headlight and tail light when rev'd up. Checked voltage at wire and when rev'd up is 35-45 volts. Figure bad voltage regulator. How good is this regulator (http://www.ebay.com/itm/370479531436?item=370479531436&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:L:OC:US:3160&vxp=mtr) on ebay that says PCC Motors out of Ontario, CA? I see no burns or physical defects on the old one. Can regulator go bad with no visual indication? Also, tail light says Philips 12139 12v 10/5w. Where to buy one? Seems to indicate the bulb has a 10w brake filament, and 5w tail filament. Looks like 1157 bulb. Only lower wattage(s). Fits in plastic housing, I think it'd melt it with higher wattage.

yes, i went through that already but no burned wire, but it did take out the headlight bulb/speedometer bulb and the tail light bulb. I matched up a regulator by the connector and the size was the same, they just have different connectors...the regulator components are epoxied internally, typically a diode internally is n/g..the bulbs will have a #, a local scooter place will jack up the prices as they are in a business to make money. a web search will yield better results..

Well installed new regulator and bulbs. Works like a champ--yaaay:yay:. Funny, the tail & brake light bulbs said 10/5w on them, but the socket they went into said 21/5w. Couldn't find 10/5w so put the original spec bulbs back in--- 21/5w. Look just like 1157 bulbs though.
