I started my 2t a few days ago and it ran fine.tried the next day and it woulnt start so I checked the fuel line and it was coming from the filter when trying to start it.started right up when I put fuel in the head.today its not coming out of the filter.i checked for cracks in the lines, cleaned carb.what goes out on these the most?i think I have a vacuum problem but it was running on its own days ago.

You can't suck gas threw a vacuum assisted fuel pump... that I know of. :hmm:

They are the same fuel pumps that are used on most snowmobiles.

Take a peek here and see if you can find a pic of your fuel pump.

Usually the 50's are gravity fed from the tank unless they are fuel injected instead of carb. There should be a petcock with 3 connections on it: 1 for fuel in, one for fuel out, and another for vacuum. If connected properly, it should allow fuel through when vacuum is applied. You can test by sucking n the vacuum line. If it doesn't work, then your petcock is bad and you need a new one.

In addition to what Firehawk posted,If the vacuum hose going to the petcock has a vacuum leak, the petcock will not open. That happened to me once.

You have 3 other threads going saying about the same thing.

Maybe its time to take it to the shop and let them fix it for ya.

You would of been riding it weeks ago if you did.

I'm not being mean at ya, its just my opinion.

When I was trying to figure put my lack of fuel issue, I found mine worked on TINY amounts of suction.
Mine is fit under the gas tank, with 2 nipples, gas out and (I think to a 3 way fitting one went to the carb) vacume line.
So when it would not start, I'd remove the tubing from the Vac nipple, at the pump, attach a length of tubing that fits that nipple, then like priming a hose as you would to siphoning gas, except sipping in tiny amounts of pressure, the flow would start.....to much, or to hard, the flow would stop.
So a 20" length of 1/4" tubing is in my tool kit under the seat.
And, yes I did replace that pump, all hoses, and added tiny hose clamps to all hoses, completely removed the gas tank and cleaned it.
It's still that way. Runs for while then I have to siphon it, it only takes me like 20 seconds now, but that sucks at a traffic light when it happens.
