My son will be moving into the city for college and we were thinking it would be better for him to buy a scooter instead of a car. Easy to park, less gas and easy to ride. It will be mostly city driving but there may be the occasional trips into the hills. Do you suggest we invest in a mid-size or large scooter (I know he'd like the sporty look but I'm trying to be practical).

Hi
welcome aboard
Pleased to meet you
Have him take an MSF course, any scoot over 50 ccs requires a motorcycle endorsement and the skills he will learn are priceless

Save some money in your budget for riding gear

If hes handy with tools any scoot will fit his needs if not i would recommend a name brand Aprilia Honda Vespa Etc
If its a 50 cc try to go with a 2 stroke

+1 for the MSF course. Admittedly I don't always wear the propper attire, but the MSF course has saved my butt numerous times. Also in this state if you pass it, you don't have to bother with the DMV test.

He's 6'2" and weighs 185 lbs. Thank you for the MSF course suggestion inuyasha and thumper650, I will pass that along to him. I'll leave the riding gear for him to buy, he may not like what I buy but I'll certainly go with him to make sure he's covered head to toe.

Being that tall, I would get a 250cc. :scoot:

You don't want him looking like this. :s . :hehe:

My father and myself are 6'2", and somewhere around the 225lb range.
The Hunter style scoot is perfect for us, even as a 150cc. If speed is an issue, then then a 250cc would be ideal.
