Getting the young'ens on a bike.

I'm sure this has been brought up before and frankly, I'm not sure if there is a section of the Burgie forum for this subject. So feel free to move it moderators!

It seems in the various other forums and blogs I visit there is a concern about the lack of new people taking up the sport of motorcycling.

I don't really see it here in Florida, if anything I see a large number of young people on scooters and motorcycles. But I can only speak to my small part of the world. I do know however that sales have been falling over the last few years and I think there is a combination of reasons for this.

So my question is...how do you promote the sport? How do you get younger people involved?:shrug: :scoot:

I am from Connecticut , then NH & now Fla. I have two daughters. They both rode with me (on "chopped" Triumphs) before they were 10! My oldest daughter just came for a visit in Fla. The 1st thing that she did was to get out of my wifes car (from the airport) & jump on the back of my bike before even going in to unpack! My Grandson (her son) also rode with me on a visit so I don't see the problem if you start them young. If they like it (some don't) they will continue riding.:tup: Irish

I don't know what the answer is to this. I read an editorial written by a Millenial a while back. He touted his needs as an electric car that steers itself. The lack of mechanical curiosity in the rising generations is astounding. They all seem to be into electronic equipment and not into metal.

My 24 year old daughter on the other hand just got her bike permit and is after me to teach her how to ride the Rebel so maybe there's hope for the genetically inclined.
