Hi All.. long time lurker but new member & poster....

I have a 2007 Lance Vintage Scooter (Gy6) I am having electrical/battery issues and headlamp issues so I am wondering if the two might be connected.

#1 no highbeam- low works just fine but hi-beam.. nothing. I don't think this headlamp has two filaments. (it looks like this http://www.scooterdynasty.com/headlightassemblyforretrovintagescooters.aspx

#2 Can't start with key-- will kick start just fine but no matter how long I drive it- it doesn't seem to be charging the battery- not even enough to turn the key & move the needles on the gauges.

So I'm pretty sure I will be needing a new battery- but I am just wondering if the headlight issue might be related and there might be a bigger problem..

Any thoughts?

First off: Welcome to the site. :D

Try a new battery.
Most headlights are indeed duel filament.
If still nothing, try a new VR. pretty cheap, and easy to change.

Yes like techie610 said you might need a new
Voltage Regulator.

If you doin't drive much, keep you'r battery on a 12v charger on low.
For some, if not most of us we use this:

Drive it all the time... have a battery tender for when I don't drive it much.

Anywhoo-- battery was bad & as was headlight- it was just a coincidence that they went out at the same time!

Thanks for the help!
