I'm thinking about buying a chineese scooter, but a 2T. I have a list of wants: 13"(or larger) wheels, lots of performance parts upgrades available, easy to find used/broke on craigslist. Anybody know some common names to enter in the search engine? Anybody have some favorites, and why? Thanks guys.

Vento,Johnway,CPI oliver, ect. As long as it has minerrelli style engine, all pretty much the same. Avoid geely vertical engine single speed types tho.

We sold 4 2011 Jonway Solana 2T leftovers last month. Only "con" is that they sit pretty tall and not short leg friendly. I wanted a scoot that we could retail for less than a grand.

It would be real nice to find a 150 or larger 2t today! That would fly/

What you want is a Minarelli also called JOG ( Yamaha design ) as it is common and very easy to get good parts for . Some 2Ts have a Geely or Morini ( vertical instead of horizontal cylinder ) . Rocketa also has a 2T . Yes I agree you would want 12 , 13 or 14 wheels as 10s are too small and 16s are not wide enough for me . I like to have doughnuts ( fat tires ) . Genuine mad a Rattler which had a 110cc 2T engine but has 10x3.5 tires .

Here is a list of a few 2Ts and a place that still has a few 2T models as once they are gone no more will be imported thanks to EPA . I have a Jonway Magnum like the orange one at the top ( mine is blue ) as I was sold with a sporty exhaust ( many only have tubing without an expansion chamber ) , 13 wheels that are powder coated black with red stripe , rear facing carb so I can get to it without removing and panels or the seat bucket , but the coolest feature was having saw blade style brake rotors F&R as hardly any 50s have rear disc brakes . I hate cabled drums as they do not stop as good , cable stretches and breaks , squeaks , and it is a bummer to have to remove the exhaust and rear wheel to access the drum to change out the shoes , where discs I just remove the caliper . The front has twin pistons but the rear has two single pistons opposed ( clamps on both sides instead of only one like floaters do ) . Brakes are so overkill it can throw me off of the seat . Here is a list http://49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/2765 Here is a vendor that has some 2Ts listed http://www.powerrideoutlet.com/scooters-mopeds/49cc-50cc-scooters-mopeds.html

CPI is another great brand . Oliver is common but the GTR or Argon . I just missed out on getting a used CPI GTR which has a LC engine instead of AC , tall 17 wheels and looks more like a crotch rocket than a scooter http://www.cpiscooter.com/

Now some with the Geely engine has a single speed chain drive instead of a belt driven CVT . Having variator weights that expand the belt give the effect of having " gears " and improves performance and uphill .

Try craigslist.org for a 2T project as you may get lucky . BBKs are easy to find and install but to truly get the most out of it you will need to get an exhaust pipe like LeoVince to turn it into a screamer. Here is a great article of many 2T exhaust options http://49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1391

You can bump it up to a 70 or 72c by bolting it on . Now if you have a machine shop in town and the money , you can bore out the case so a 90cc piston and crank could be installed later on
