Just wondering. Other than the ruckus I can't think of any.
It's intimidating to peal off all the plastic on some scoots to do the work.

Vespas are all technically "naked". It's interesting because the "Vespa" shape is likely the shape most companies cover their frames in order to achieve. On a Vespa the frame is the "covering"

I came real close to having a naked majesty. When I had to tear into it to replace the piston and rings that plastic peed me off big time. It takes well over a hour to get at the engine in one of them things.

In case any one is interested while I am ranting, the majesty is the worst scooter design I have ever encountered, They designed it with 2 air filters that pick up dirty air off the front wheel to run into the throttle body. If it leaks you need an overhaul. Been there/done that.

I personally don't like naked bikes.
I mean, they're ok, but they're much more prone to damage or malfunction due to the elements.
Sun shining on hoses makes them brittle,
Water (rain) on the electronics,
But the worst part is, whatever is visible, makes it easier for someone to vandalize it, or use it to steal the scoot.

The easier maintenance is, the easier it is to EFF## things up!

The scooter bodywork keeps the rider and inner workings of the bike dry when splashing thru the puddles. That is one reason they are so popular in Europe and SE Asia, where is rains frequently.
I like the look of naked scooters but would choose one with body work to ride to work.

My scooter isnt naked because the front panels are neccessary for the headlights, (unless I buy some new headlights) but I did take off the rear panels cuz they made the scooter look a little too wide. I installed all the components that were exposed to the elements in the underseat compartment
