Hi all 50 to 72 cc riders,

I was wondering how frequently you change your CVT belts?

Hi
Thats all depends on the quality of the belts and the use they get
I have almost 5,000 miles on the gates powerlink i use for "April" and its starting to get worn so i plan to change it within the next 100 or so miles
The gates in my redstreak is around 2,000 miles and still looks fairly new
Take care and ride safely dear friend
Yours Hank

3000 km's on my tao ATM belt, and looking like new!
On my bms260, I had to change after 2k miles

Spec on the Burgman is every 14,500. I replaced the perfectly good looking belt as mandated by the schedule...

Yeah, but Burgmans' belts are very strong, nothing like a 50cc Chinese belt. I was thinking 2500 km is a good time to change a belt on a 139QMB.. or..?

No, it's even better because we can make a comparison.

Roketa 250cc, Over 4.000 miles on the original belt since 2008. :scoot:

It looks brand new and I still reach top speed with it = 82 mph. :)

EDIT, I typed the wrong miles.

The belt that came stock with my scooter was a Zhuping and at 1400 miles the thing looked worn out, and I was getting low speeds. The cheap Chinese stock belt had long outlived its uses at 1400 miles, maybe sooner, but when I got my scooter it already had 1400 miles on it.

Compared to the gates powerlink belt I got to replace it, the Zhuping is thinner and seems to be made of cheaper material.

Maybe it's a no-brainer for everyone else, but stock belts should probably be replaced asap. :/

My present engine is with the stock belt, now at 4000 kms (2500 miles) and the belt does not look worn at all. But I was thinking it's better to just replace it already..?

WOW I have never seen a poll like this even spread all over the place

Any way 50cc general consensus is stock belt on Chinese scooters should go asap

No need for replacing.
Just have an idea of what your top speed is, and when you see it dropping (or when you notice a slow RPM increase over time, at a specific MPH; eg: Riding 35MPH @ 4k RPM, and now it's 4,5k RPM), then it's time to replace it.
Most of the time, belts don't snap, unless you do performance tuning or put BBK's in there. Usually they wear out, until top speed and highway MPG is compromised.
At that point, it's time for a switch.
I believe I can get 6k miles out of my belt... We'll see if it's going to get to that number or not.
But in any case, I have purchased a spare belt, and will be replacing the old belt, whenever I feel it's time.

I have only done one belt change so far on my T3. It was the stock belt and I changed it at 5000km (3100mi) the thing looks as if it barley had any run time on it. So I am holding on to it as a spare!
