Hello everybody,

I have serious problems with the electrics of my scoot - all my blinkers and my horn don't work, all other lights work. It started yesterday. The bike had a real hard time kick-starting, then it did start (after I changed the spark plug), but was dying few times while idling. Speedo's fuel gauge is also not working. The blinker relay was just ticking REALLY fast, but no blinkers. Then suddenly blinkers started working (all bulbs were fine), so I managed to get home. This morning scoot started ok, I idled and throttled for half an hour to let the battery charge, but the blinkers didn't budge to function, the relay didn't make a sound. Headlight and brake light work.

I thought it was the battery since the temperatures here are below zero, so I took it home and measured it with my multimeter - looked great, 12,6 Volts! Anyway, I put it to charge, but the charger worked for half an hour then it displayed "FULLY CHARGED". I really don't know what to do.

Could this be a faulty blinker relay? Can a bad blinker relay affect the horn as well?

Yea I'd say it's a relay.

Thanks Admin, I hope it's that simple.

Update: Just an hour ago I re-installed my battery. Scoot started fine and now the fuel gauge moved, but only a hint above the red zone and I know I have a FULL tank. At first the blinker relay didn't make a sound, then I decided to try the horn. I heard a veeery low whining somewhere below the plastics, then I pressed the horn several times and it started honking like before, then I tried the blinkers and they also worked. Then I shut it off, went to get some groceries and tried again when I returned - no blinkers or horn again!!!!!! Same story as yesterday.. I think it's a loose wire somewhere or something shorts since it's very wet and cold here and I ride it in these conditions the whole winter, but I don't know where exactly to look for a bad wire.. Will it be the switch or the relay under the front plastic?

EDIT: Also, here (http://www.modernbuddy.com/forum/topic23537.html) I read it could be the ignition assembly (see last post). Is this possible?

This is the stuff to repel moisture from your electronic components.

Hi, thank you all! I found the problem - one of the cables of the 6-pin connector of the ignition assembly was torn. I removed both ends from the connector, welded them together and put some silicone and tape on top. Immediately fuel gauge jumped to FULL, blinkers and horn work like before!

The wire that was torn was red to red, low left on the female connector if someone else gets the same symptoms:

Thanks again, marking thread as SOLVED.

Great news! Feels good when you figure something like that out, huh? Wish more electrical problems could be solved as easily. I'm still trying to figure some things out on one of my machines.. damn stator. lol
