Hey everyone, I'm thinking it would be really great to have a nice organized database full of Scooter & Scooter Parts Reviews. Each review would be on it's own page (not a post/thread) much like the Engine Displacement Calculator (http://www.scootdawg.net/engine_displacement_calculator.php) is. We'd have a section for scooters themselves, and for aftermarket parts.

So basically we'd be looking for unbiased, well-written (typos and such are no big deal, all that can be edited/fixed by us), lengthy reviews (not something that's going to be a few sentences) complete with pictures. Honesty is a must.. the good along with any bad should be included.

Some of the things that should be covered in the story (depending on if it's a scooter review or a parts review) are things like quality/craftsmanship/attention to detail, performance/ease of use, ease of installation, shipping, reliability, price/value, etc.

And finally you'd rate each category on a scale of 1-5 (5 being best):

1) Performance
2) Quality
3) Ease of Installation (parts only)
4) Value

So if anyone's interested, please Private Message me and let me know what review you will be doing beforehand. I'll also update this thread with a 'sample review' so you can get an idea of what to do.

I think this would really be a great addition to the site, and something that will eventually bring people to the forum. So if you want to be a writer and have stuff you'd like to review, get intouch with me!

Thanks guys! :)

Thanks guys!

Actually I was thinking, I think I'm going to make a forum for it open to everyone, and then certain reviews will be chosen to be on their own page, like mentioned earlier.

I'll keep ya updated! :)

Alright, I found this review on a truck forum, and I think it's a good example. You definitely don't have to make it just like this, it's just a sample..

"Lo-Roll" Tonneau Cover by Tonno Pro
After a quick search for a roll-up tonneau cover for our '05 F-150 Lariat, it looked inevitable that we would have to spend atleast four to five hundred dollars. But after digging deeper, we were pleasantly surprised to come across one at almost two-hundred bucks less than the going rate, produced by a company called Tonno Pro (http://www.tonnopro.com/). Browsing their website was a breeze, and included installation videos (http://www.tonnopro.com/lr-installvid1.html), a FAQ (http://www.tonnopro.com/faq.php), and customer testimonials (http://www.tonnopro.com/testimonials.php). After checking it all out, we liked what we saw and placed our order!

Four short days later we received our unit. Packaged well inside was one 5.5' "Lo-Roll" premium vinyl roll-up tonneau cover for our Ford. It included six clamps, a left and right bed rail track, a tailgate seal, and of course the cover itself. Although you probably won't have to even refer to the instructions since the installation is pretty self-explanatory, they still could have been a little easier to understand for those not so mechanically inclined. Either way, we found it easy and quick to install on our truck, taking only about 15 minutes with basic hand tools. No drilling is required.

We were very impressed with the overall construction of the cover. The three clamps per side holds the tracks firmly in place. All of the seals looked to be of high quality and really helped to keep water out. We had a couple problem areas that will let some water in, but that was due more because of our aftermarket diamond plate bed rail covers that were beat-up over the years and didn't exactly fit too great on the truck anymore. We plan to go back to the plastic factory covers in the near future, and we're confident the problem will be rectified. But overall we feel the sealing and fit of the cover is top-notch.

The adjustment of the cover towards the front of the bed has three fixed settings that you can choose from when installing, depending if you need to take slack up, or let some out. We would have liked to see an automatic spring tension system like found on others, but this seems to work good also, and you shouldn't need to adjust it too often. The cover fits snug and tight, and any "wrinkles" can easily be removed by walking around and pulling the sides of the cover onto the velcro of the tracks more. It closes and opens easily, although sometimes the release lever located on the right-side can stick a bit.

Rolling up the Lo-Roll cover is fast and easy, and it secures on both sides with loop straps and plastic hooks. One thing that we weren't crazy about was the big white-lettered stamp on the underside of the cover that is revealed when it's rolled up. Although purely a cosmetic issue, it definitely sticks out like a sore thumb when the cover is rolled up near the cab. Most likely this won't be a big deal for most people, and can probably be fixed pretty easily. Anyone have some black shoe polish?

Overall we're very happy with Tonno Pro's Lo-Roll tonneau cover. The few small issues we found are nearly completely erased by the $319 price tag, which at this time, includes free shipping. That's a huge savings, when considering similar covers made by other manufacturers are almost two-hundred dollars more. It installs fast, looks great on the truck, does what a cover is supposed to do, and is probably the best deal out there you'll ever find. If you're on a budget but absolutely need a cover, we feel this is the only way to fly! You can contact Tonno Pro directly at 888-477-3729, or order right from their website (http://www.tonnopro.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=264).

So basically the 1st and 2nd paragraph talk about how and where they found the product, the packaging, and how it arrived.

The next few paragraphs talk about the quality and craftsmanship, installation, and function.

The last paragraph talks about their overall view of the product, a recap of the good points and bad points, the price and value, and then also gives the contact information of the company that produces the product.

Again, this is just to give you an idea.. it doesn't have to follow this to a "T", but it gives a basic idea for those who don't know where to start.

And then at the end you could rate it on the 4 categories, example:

1) Performance: 3
2) Quality: 5
3) Ease of Installation (parts only): 2
4) Value: 5

Feel free to start using it guys, and thanks!

I've modified the Member Reviews section so that the first post of a thread (the review itself) is a bit different, so it looks unlike a 'normal' post and more like an actual article that's been written. It will also be displayed at the top of every page of that particular thread (if it has multiple pages of replies). Check it out when ya get a chance. :)

An example, written by dudley: http://www.scootdawg.net/showthread.php?t=52882

And again, feel free to start adding your reviews!

Thanks guys.
